An Historic Occasion.

Last night (Saturday) witnessed a lovely little series of events:
after taking a nice long stroll around our darkened neighborhood
(heretofore impossible because of the sticky Texas heat),
Hue was awake and happy sitting in his bouncy seat.
After much consideration, I decided to take a risk.
He made it through a bath, including hair-washing, lotion, and clean clothes,
without a single sign of protest - and all this before eating!
I admit it, I used food as a reward.
Maybe he won't remember.

Happy Birthday, Again!

ONE MONTH:
TWO MONTHS:
BIRTH - 7 pounds, 5 ounces - 20 inches
2 DAYS - 6 pounds, 11 ounces
1 WEEK - 6 pounds, 9 ounces
2 WEEKS - 7 pounds, 3 ounces
2 MONTHS - 11 pounds, 4 ounces - 22.25 inches
This puts him "right on the midline" which I assume equates to 50th percentile.

Another old post.

Just to remind myself of LBB (life before baby), here is what I was posting about 3 years ago:
Currently Reading (in August 2006)
Habits of the Mind: Intellectual Life As a Christian Calling
By James W. Sire

...according to James W. Sire, in his book Habits of the Mind:

"An intellectual is one who loves ideas,
is dedicated to clarifying them,
developing them,
criticizing them,
turning them over and over,
seeing their implications,
stacking them atop one another,
arranging them,
sitting silent while new ideas pop up
and old ones seem to rearrange themselves,
playing with them,
punning with their terminology,
laughing at them,
watching them clash,
picking up the pieces,
starting over,
judging them,
withholding judgment about them,
changing them,
bringing them into contact with their counterparts
in other systems of thought,
inviting them to dine and have a ball
but also suiting them for service in workaday life.

A Christian intellectual is all of the above to the glory of God."

Interesting. Sort of makes it sound as if ideas are like Legos.

Another week.

Things Hue did in the last week or so:
1. Visited friends at SWBTS
2. Starting out awake, slept at least 1.5 hours in the crib - at night! (with the aid of the ladybug's green stars - thanks, Nana and Papa!)
3. Went out to eat three times
4. Made it through a whole church service (granted, we did sit in the foyer)
5. Rolled over (front to back)
6. Treated Mom to a river of milk down her shirt

And we present this video for evaluation - does this count as snoring?

Super Hue!

More Video.

July 19, 2009 - 7:58 a.m.
"Sideways" - Hue is kind of sideways in his seat, and I can't seem to remember to turn the camera.

July 23, 2009 - 10:38 p.m.

July 24, 2009 - 5:17 p.m.
"Grunting Baby Syndrome" - Why is everything a syndrome?

July 27, 2009 - 3:29 p.m.
"Don't Hate Me Because I'm Beautiful" - watch out for the killer dimples!

August 2, 2009 - 6:49 p.m.
Check out how he fills out this newborn onesie - reminds me of the guy I knew who wore Gap kids' tshirts out clubbing so his muscles would look bigger.
