Today.

Today, Hueston and I took a walk. We went to CVS and bought a few things, trying to take advantage of the "cooler" weather (it was only 80F at 10 a.m.).

I'm not sure how much he enjoyed it, given the expression on his face.

Actually, it may just be his reaction to having his picture taken: "Mama, really. Do you have to keep sticking that camera in my face?"

Video test.

This is from the hospital - I just want to see if it's viewable or not. If it works, I'll post more.

And also...

My ankles are back. Hooray!

He's here!

I'm thinking about observing a moment of silence around 2:30 p.m. today, to commemorate the totally unexpected event that was my water breaking a week ago.
At work. Two weeks early. Sixteen days, to be precise.
An event that (after a slightly harrowing 14 hours) resulted in the birth of our beautiful perfect son, Hueston Parker, early on Wednesday morning.
We're not sleeping as much as we have before (well, David is, but that's another matter), and I sure didn't have any idea at this time one week ago that this is where I would be today... but it's so great, and we're loving every moment.
Apparently, we're incapable of timing our lives ourselves (big surprise), so God takes it in His hands to do it for us. Nowhere has this been more evident than in the process of getting Hueston here, and we're grateful that it has worked out this way.
Since I'm not allowed to lift anything heavier than my son, and I'm supposed to be resting all the time, it has been something of a learning process as I adjust not only to allowing other people to do things for me, but actually asking for them - and surrendering control of where (and when) things get put away and a little of my independence.
But I wouldn't change a thing.

Nesting.

I think both of us must be nesting a little bit, because David came home yesterday with this:

We still have more to do before we can decide where to hang it, but I think it will look pretty cool in our little boy's room!

Pregnancy Observation #5.

I will not call this a surprise, because I might have been able to predict that I'd feel this way - had I known this was something that would be a problem for me.
I never - NEVER - appreciated my ankles before.
And now... I really miss them. I look forward to meeting them again in a couple of months.

Design.

This is really a test to see how things like this will show up here.
These are a few concert posters I did back in 2007 for the community orchestra my dad plays in.
The third one never got printed, but the others came out pretty well, I thought.

Pleasant Pregnancy Surprise #4

Hooray! It's summer! Time for crazily hot weather in Texas!
And for the first time in my life, I can wear cute summer clothes...
without covering them up with a sweater (or ski bibs) whenever I go into a place with air conditioning.

Pregnancy Surprise #3

I like being punched or kicked in the stomach.
As long as it's from the inside.
I actually look forward to it - especially now that I can see my stomach move from the outside!
It probably sounds uncomfortable and possibly a little creepy...
but it reminds me that there is a person in there.
A very strong, energetic little person.
Who I can't wait to meet.
Only 10 weeks to go!
